so in honor of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I decided to describe what my day is really like because I do high school from home, (its more interesting after the jump).

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I go to a public high school, but its online, so I do it from home, so I'm not technically homeschooled, I just do school from home

7:30 AM wake up and then hit snooze for the next hour.

8:30 AM get out of bed and shower and get dressed

9:30 AM eat breakfast

10:00 AM Log into school

10:01 AM decide I would rather browse the internet for a few minutes, so I look at jalopnik for 2 hours

12:01 PM start school

12:15 PM get tired of doing school and decide to browse jalopnik and oppositelock for only a few minutes.

4:15 PM curse at my computer that none of my school work is done, then actually decide to do something.

8:15 PM complete school when I could have had it done by noon.

Kinja'd!!!

Skyline for your time.

Is this an option they offer to all students at your school? I would have loved this back in the day.

I'm not enrolled in the local school district, I'm enrolled in a statewide program, but yes, it is available to anyone in my state.

If you don't mind answering, what was your reason for deciding to do school from home? If it's personal that's fine. Just curious, as I think this was just starting to become a thing when I graduated, so I don't know anybody who has done it.

I would have killed for this arrangement...instead of wasting time at school all day then working 5pm to 2am I could have just crammed all the school into the morning then worked 1-10 or something and...actually slept.

my mom said I got too distracted when I was in a normal school, so she had me start doing online, In a way I like it because I don't have to have a set schedule, I just have to get my school work done.

I am definately not a morning person, what required you to have to work 5 PM to 2 AM?

I wasn't really required to...I just set a goal and that's what it took to get there.

I have a cousin that was five years older than me and I watched him just train wreck his first year in college. The bills and the freedom were way too much. I wasn't going to let that happen to me so I pledged to myself that I was going to get my shit together and ace school as well as working so I could A: Get real responsibility under the belt while I still had my parents as a backup and B: graduate debt free.

My parents weren't in a position to help me go to school and I wanted a degree that carried national weight so in-state wasn't going to cut it (I had long since decided I wasn't going to live in OK or the surrounding states which is really all an OU or OSU degree will get you entry level). So I worked out costs out of state, figured what it would take to do that. Until I turned 16 I worked as much as I could, but the child labor restrictions made that a real pain in the ass. I calculated that if I worked full time from my 16th birthday at minimum wage I could take the first year and first semester of my sophomore year in college without working and still stay afloat. So high school I worked 50-60 hours a week, took freshman college off work, worked the summer between freshman and sophomore years, took the next semester off, then got a choice 40 hour a week job for the rest of college. Lots of different (and usually shitty) jobs in that time frame but I graduated way ahead of my goal with a very nice nest egg for a fresh college grad.

you are definitely a lot more ambitious than me, I am planning to do electrical engineering, and my parents aren't in a position to pay my way through college although they will still let me live at home for free, so in-state is really the only option, but luckily, the local in-state college has a decent EE program. Its just too expensive to go out of state for me, even with aid, I don't want a lot of debt when I graduate, so I'm staying in-state.

Haha, I'd call it 'pig-headed', 'single minded', and 'stupid' more than ambitious. I would recommend it to absolutely no one. All that high school and college stuff: life long friendships, parties, experiencing new things, sports, music, fun, etc. I basically traded that for money. It's just once I set myself to something I do it even if circumstances change and it's totally not worth it anymore at that point.

My brothers lived at home during school, one an Aero Eng and the other an MBA, and they're both doing fine in life without the pain I put myself through.

is this temporary? I really hope it is, high school's social interaction is actually really important.

no, I graduate in June anyway, plus I am in fact out around people all the time. I play in like 4 music groups, and I get out and about quite a lot. plus to me, I've never seen the point to dating in high school, I have friends.

That's pretty cool especially the music groups, my bad I didn't know what grade you were in. In this case it's a sweet deal, my comment regarding the social aspect of school was exactly that and it looks like you've got your bases covered (though there's nothing wrong with dating imo).

no problem, I didn't really say what grade I was in, and my reasoning with dating is from what I've seen, you are (most likely) not gonna be marrying someone you were dating in high school, I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it just doesn't seem like it does a lot.

True but if I may I would just like to say a couple things,

Relationships can be really great, even if temporary on the grand scale of things. You learn a lot about people, about yourself and how to act in a relationship, how to react to situations you've never faced before. All of this is good "practice" for when you finally find "the one". I am a much better boyfriend now than I was when I was in high school with the things I've learned about myself and about women.

As you said you are (most likely)/ not gonna be marrying someone you were dating in high school, but the same thing goes for the first woman you date in college or ever for that matter. But I bet by dating and gaining experience your approach to relationship with "the one" would be a lot smoother.

Not trying to lecture you just sharing it. And I definitely get it if you are just doing the no strings attached thing because I've definitely done my share and that's cool too but relationships have their perks too.
